Rare Cancers Australia

Sophie's New Car!

This week our rare cancer patient 5-year old Sophie Grills took the keys to a Subaru sedan. The car was donated by a very generous Rare Cancers Australia family supporter, who read about Sophie on our website and decided they could help by giving the family their own car.

Sophie’s parents Rebecca and Robert Grills cried tears of appreciation.

“We are overwhelmed by their kindness and generosity. This gift will change our lives. It means we can now get to therapy and doctors’ appointments safely. We will be forever grateful,” the couple said.

The joyful Sophie said excitedly, “Mummy and Daddy have a car!” and gave the donor a big hug.

Rare Cancers Australia works to improve the lives of Australians living with rare and less common cancers and is delighted that life for the Grills family will be that much easier now that they have safe transportation to take young Sophie to all her medical appointments including therapy sessions, GP checkups and MRI scans at the hospital - a four-hour drive from home in Bulahdelah.

You can help Sophie by making a donation here today.
