Create your own event

Set up an online fundraising page to manage donations, receipts and updates about your event.

Take all the hard work out of organising a fundraiser by setting up an online fundraising page. Here, you can promote your fundraising activity, collect donations, and your donors will be sent a receipt via email. Of course, you can still collect offline donations – like cash – if you want to, but keeping everything together online makes things simple for you and your supporters!

1. Plan your fundraiser

Decide what you’re going to do for your fundraiser. Thing about things like:

  • When or where will any in-person components be held?
  • How much would you like to raise?
  • Why is fundraising for Rare Cancers Australia important to you?

Remember, sharing some of your personal experiences and story can show your networks how important the cause is to you. Giving people a personal connection can make them more likely to donate.

2. Choose a theme

Not sure where to start? We’ve got some ready-made themes that could inspire you. Check out our templates for events including:

  • Morning teas
  • Active challenges
  • Shaves

If you have a unique fundraising idea, you can also create your own theme!

3. Share and ask for donations

Once your fundraising page is set up, collecting donations is simple. Share your fundraising link far and wide – with family and friends, or through your networks at school or work. Promoting your event can even be as simple as posting it on your social media. Remember to include a little about why you’re fundraising and why supporting Rare Cancers Australia is important to you. Don’t forget to thank your donors!

4. Keep your networks updated

As your fundraiser progresses, you might like to share updates with your networks. For example, if you’re planning a physical challenge like a hike or run, you could share training updates. If you’re hosting a morning tea, get people excited by sharing a favourite recipe. These updates show your commitment to your fundraising, as well as keeping your event top-of-mind for people to get involved.
