Rare Cancers Awareness Day (RCAD) has been held annually on 26 June since 2021.

Throughout the month of June, we ask all Australians to join us in supporting people affected by rare cancer, improving awareness of rare cancers and the challenges people face, and highlighting the change families need and deserve.

Although individually, a person’s cancer may be rare, together we can have a strong and united voice. Rare Cancers Awareness Day helps to show people affected by rare or less common cancers that they are not alone.

Aware of rare

For Rare Cancers Awareness Day in 2025, we built on our 2024 message that a person’s cancer is as unique as their fingerprint. We spread the word about rare cancers more widely, and encouraged people to download an ‘I’m Aware of Rare’ Info Kit to learn more. Download your copy below.

We also invited people to continue pledging or reaffirming their support for rare, adding a fingerprint to our virtual pledge map.

During the campaign, we:

  • reached 1,028 fingerprints on our online pledge, creating a powerful visual show of support for those affected by rare cancers
  • had more than 800 downloads of our info kit
  • had more than 32,000 views across our suite of four YouTube videos featuring stories from the rare community.
