Although you may be rare, you are not alone. We can help you connect with others on a similar path, so you can exchange information and stories, and share your experiences with people who really get it.
Connecting and sharing with others who understand the reality of a rare cancer experience can have significant benefits. It can help you:
- reduce feelings of isolation and hopelessness
- improve your emotional wellbeing and quality of life
- share things you might not want to talk about with friends or family
- hear how others are coping and learn from their experience
- give and receive support.
We can direct you to the type of peer support that may be most helpful for you. This could include:
-
RCA Support Groups
RCA Support Groups are a safe and supportive space to learn, share highs and lows, receive support, and build connections. Our Support Coordinators facilitate several RCA Support Groups, via online meetings and chat groups.
-
One-on-one support
We can help you find another person living with cancer (or caring for someone who is) that you can relate to and share a conversation with. This can be a good option if you feel that a group setting is not the right space for you.
-
Other cancer-specific support groups
There are many organisations and charities that provide emotional support in a group forum (with a trained facilitator) or on a peer-to-peer basis (one-on-one). You can find these options in the Support Services section of the KnowledgeBase.
