Good Afternoon All,
Due to health legislations which have been enforced over the weekend from the Government and Health Department in respect to community events in the aim to contain COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision that Kosi Challenge in Thredbo this weekend will not proceed under the guidance of RCA. Although the team from RCA will not be in Thredbo, we can confirm that Thredbo Village is still open and if you have booked accommodation and organised your weekend away you are more than welcome to walk Mount Kosciusko in a private capacity.
The components of Kosi Challenge which will not go ahead include: there w
ill be no official registration area on Saturday morning, no specific time wave you need to depart from and unfortunately no patient drinks on the Friday evening or Cocktail Reception on the Saturday evening. For anyone who has purchased a chairlift ticket you will be able to collect these on Saturday morning from the chairlift office.
Alternatively we have introduced Virtual Kosi Challenge. The initiative will give those of you who have registered for Kosi the opportunity to accomplish your commitment to yourselves and your donors and still participate in the physical aspect of the Kosi Challenge within your local area. Take part in the Virtual Kosi Challenge by uploading photos or videos to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter using the #KosiChallenge.
Whether you walk Mt Kosciusko in a private capacity with friends and family or participate in Virtual Kosi Challenge this Saturday 21st March, both options allow you to continue to fundraise for our patients and their families who are living with a rare and less common cancera disease where abnormal cells split without control and spread to other nearby body tissue and/or organs.
If you are no longer are travelling to Thredbo and you would like a refund from any pre-purchased chairlift tickets or tickets to the cocktail reception please email [email protected] by this Friday 20th March and we will arrange this to be processed. Also please advise us so we can arrange to have your RARE cap delivered and in your possession for you to wear in time for your Virtual Kosi Challenge!
We hope to see an avalanche of social media posts showcasing your innovative ways of tackling Virtual Kosi.
These are very challenging times and all of us at RCA are devastated that we cannot host Kosi this year. We will however, continue to work diligently for our patients, carers and their families. Thank you again for your support.
Best wishes,
Richard
