The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation Australia was concieved in October 2017 by Steve and Claire Holmes, following Steve’s survival from a late-stage, stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma and the passing of his younger brother Graeme from the same diagnosisthe process of identifying a disease based on signs and symptoms, patient history and medical test results in 2014.
The foundation engages in numerous initiatives, including fundraising for cutting-edge medical reasearch, developing patient and caregiver-centered support programs, response solutions, and fostering collaborations with healthcare institutions and research bodies.
These efforts aim to transform the standard of care into an all-encompassing ‘standard of response’ strategy that shifts the patient from passenger to copilot, significantly elevating the patient’s engagement and survival rates.
