Determined to create positive change across the care continuum, Bowel Cancer Australia continues to lead the call for a lower screeningtesting for cancer or conditions that can lead to cancer before symptoms appear, also known as cancer screening start age; timely access to colonoscopyan examination of the large intestine/bowel with a small, flexible instrument known as a colonoscope; increased availability of affordable treatment options; implementation of patient-reported measures; as well as investment to reduce the rates of early-onset bowel cancer.
We provide practical and emotional support for the growing number of Australians affected by bowel cancer, building communities through shared experiences and creating a powerful voice for change. We campaign for access to quality treatment and best care, to ensure more people live beyond bowel cancer.
Bowel Cancer Australia makes meaningful change across the care continuum through –
- implementing dynamic campaigns to raise awareness and motivate action;
- increasing health knowledge and understanding through the provision of information and resources;
- empowering people with the tools to be advocates for their own health;
- providing practical and emotional support for the growing number of Australians affected by bowel cancer, building communities through shared experiences and creating a powerful voice for change;
- campaigning for access to personalised treatment and patient-centred care, to ensure more people live beyond bowel cancer;
- funding research that has the potential to improve survival and/or help build a path toward a cureno evidence of disease; complete cancer remission as well as integrate published research into our awareness, advocacy, and support strategies; and
- raising funds to continue our life-saving work and inspire others to do the same.
