Dr George Iatropoulos is a Locum Medical Oncologista doctor who specialises in the study, diagnosis and treatment of cancer at Monash Health. He completed training and worked at tertiary academic centres in the United Kingdom, such as Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
On moving to Australia in 2015, he undertook a 2-year post-specialty clinical research Fellowship at Austin Health on gastrointestinal and breast cancers. He also holds a Master’s degree in Molecular & Cancera disease where abnormal cells split without control and spread to other nearby body tissue and/or organs Biology, with his dissertation focusing on breast cancer chemo-prevention strategies.
Dr Iatropoulos currently works in the GI cancer stream at Monash. He is interested and actively involved in clinical and basic science research in gastrointestinal tumours. He is completing a PhD by research in the field of biliary tract cancers at La Trobe University/Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute.
