Diagnosed in late September of 2024, Zoe never expected to face cancer at the young age of 24.
She was diagnosed with Triple-negative Breast Cancer, which is often considered the most aggressive of breast cancers. It differs from other invasive types in that it tends to grow and spread faster, has fewer treatment options, and tends to have a worse prognosis.
Zoe has been very lucky with her treatment so far, despite some horrible reactions and symptoms along the way. She underwent 6 months of chemotherapy before having a successful surgery. This has been followed by 6 weeks of intensive radiation therapy. Having only recently finished up this treatment, Zoe has been told by her doctors to take time to recover, relax and allow her body to detox from the different treatments.
However, Zoe and her partner, Kyran, are now financially struggling after living off one income for the past 9 months. The increased cost of living is resulting in them having to use their savings to make ends meet, causing increased stress in this already difficult time.
Zoe’s new fear is that she will have to go against Doctor’s orders and rush herself back into work so that Kyran and herself will be able to afford their rent, household bills and weekly groceries.
