Andreea Stoenescu

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrea Stoenescu. Andrea passed away on the 20th of May 2018 after being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017. She will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched.



Tracey Trumper

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Tracey Trumper. Survived by husband Mark and her three children; Renee, Courtney and Josh, Tracey will be dearly missed but never forgotten and always in our hearts. 


Tim Edwards

Tim passed away in February 2018. He was an incredibly strong, passionate man who will be missed terribly by his wife, children, friends and anyone who met him.

Laurie Smith

Laurie Smith passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Latrobe Regional Hospital, Traralgon, on November 25, 2017, aged 75 years. He was a true blue Aussie who battled Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

He was the loved and loving husband of Nita for over 51 years and the beloved father and father-in-law of Sharon and Graeme, Gavin and Vanessa, Justin and Kellie, Merryn and Greg. He was also the adored Grand Dad of Emily, Hannah, Melaini, Hudson, Dylan and Jade and brother of Elsa, Judy, Peter and their families. He will be forever in our hearts.


Julie Lamplough

Julie sadly passed away in November 2017. She will be sadly missed by her community, particularly her church and family, including her three children.


Kerrie-Lee Freeman

Kerrie-Lee sadly passed away in October 2017 after a long battle with Liposarcoma, with which she was diagnosed in 2002. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, particularly her husband, Matt, and daughter, Ella.


Suzanne Cropley

After a long battle with cancer Suzanne passed away peacefully in Ballarat on the 6th of August 2017. Friends and family said their goodbyes to Suzanne where she now lies at Daylesford Cemetry. She leaves behind her much loved son David, beloved Joe and great friend Pete. 



It is with great sadness that we announce Eric Twerd passed away in September 2017. Eric was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma in 2015. In the face of adversity, Eric displayed courage and determination, and will be sorely missed by family and friends.  



It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Claudio. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially his wife Jane and his children, Carla and Michael. 


Curtis Dyt

It is with great sorrow that we must tell you that our beautiful baby boy Curtis passed away in his sleep around 11:45 am on Friday 24th February 2017. He was peaceful and surrounded by his family who loved him now and into the hereafter. Wise beyond his almost 6 years, a voice of fairness, modesty and integrity. We will miss you. Our promise to you, is we will continue the fight to find a cure for DIPG, but first we will stop and reflect and smile as we remember a beautiful boy and a beautiful life so cruelly taken away from us. We love you Curtis, you are our hero.

We wish to thank the support of all those who donated in the hope of saving our son and Rare Cancers Australia for their assistance during our time of need.

Phil Hird

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Phil Hird on the 24th of January 2017. Phil, a strong, loving, thoughtful and open-minded man will be remembered fondly by all who met him, and all those his life touched, particularly his children, Alec and Tara, and his loving wife, Tanya.


Russell Trood

Russell Trood, a man of great strength, love and compassion, sadly passed away on 9 January 2017. In his absence is a great sense of loss and sadness, but we take comfort in knowing that he lived a full and accomplished life. Russell will be remembered for his bravery, generosity and his devotion to wife Dale, and children James and Pheobe. A great man respected by many, may he rest in peace.


James McKenzie

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of James McKenzie. James passed away on Thursday 1 December, leaving behind wife Louise and son Hugh. James was a wonderful partner, loving father and generous friend. He was courageous throughout his cancer journey and was comforted by all the immense support he received. A man with great strength, dignity and heart, James will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Gone but never forgotten, may he rest in peace. 



It is with heavy hearts that we must say good bye to Kerry Dodson; a loving partner, adored mother and grandmother. Kerry passed away in the early hours of Saturday 11 June with her family by her side. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. We take comfort in knowing that Kerry had so much support and love during her courageous battle with cancer.



It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Oluwaseyi, who lost his courageous fight with cancer on August 16. During his last few moments, Oluwaseyi was surrounded by family and friends at  home in New Zealand. He leaves behind devoted wife Maggie and his beautiful eight year old son Toby.
Oluwaseyi will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered for his fighting spirit, his dedication to his family, his work and his kind and generous nature.



It is with great sadness that we must announce the recent passing of Jessica. A young mother who wanted nothing more than to fight this disease, Jessica passed away on July 6. She leaves behind her husband Eden and their 2 year old son Easton. She will be remembered for her courage, determination and kindness. A dear friend to many, Jessica will forever be in their hearts and memories. 


Bruce Alexander

It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Bruce Alexander. Bruce passed away on Tuesday 28 June, his absence will be felt amongst all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Throughout his battle with cancer, he was courageous and hopeful. A great friend, an active community member and most importantly, a wonderful and supportive father and husband. Gone but not forgotten, may you rest in peace.



It is with heavy hearts that we must acknowledge the sad passing of Gerry. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Gerry dedicated his life to helping others and his passing will have an immeasurable impact on all those fortunate enough to have known him. He lived life with passion and courage and fought extremely hard to fight this terrible disease. Gerry lost his battle with cancer on 22 March 2016. He will be immensely missed. Forever in our hearts and never forgotten. RIP.  



It is with my deepest sadness that we let you know that Vincent passed away at home on Monday 1st February from his illness. He is strongly missed and will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Thank you for your wonderful donation, you gave Vincent something very special, you gave him hope.



Laurence's family would like to thank everyone very much for kindly donating to Laurence's campaign and for all the lovely messages. Laurence passed away Saturday, 27th February and was unfortunately unable to use the funds for medical treatment.  Laurence will be greatly missed but never forgotten.



It is with deep sadness that we must acknowledge the passing of Dianne. Dianne was a wonderful person, warm, gentle and caring in nature. She travelled through her cancer journey with dignity and grace and always believed that there was hope. In her passing, there is still light and hope. Hope that one day, patients like Dianne will have better access to treatment and care. Dianne lost her fight towards the end of 2015. She will be fondly remembered, greatly missed and forever treasured.



Our precious Louisa lost her final battle on 11th November. The family would like to thank Kate and Richard Vines and all at Rare Cancers for their support. We are forever grateful to all who made a financial contribution to enable her to have the hope that a cure may be found for her particular cancer. She also gained great comfort in the knowledge of the love and support that was behind each donation. Louisa was fortunate beyond words to have Professor David Thomas as her oncologist. His compassion and persistence meant that even in her last weeks he was trialling medication with her, paid for by Sick or Treat. It is a great comfort to the family that we will always know that whatever could be done for her was done. Thank you all.



It is with immense sadness that we must say goodbye to Tanya. A wonderful mum to two gorgeous girls and loving partner of Greg. Tanya lost her battle with cancer on 23 September. Her journey was a courageous one, and she fought hard right until the end. Her determination and strength did not waiver and we will forever remember Tanya, a beautiful soul, gone too soon. There will always be a special place for Tanya in our hearts and in our thoughts. 
Greg would like to acknowledge and thank the generosity of all the people who donated to help Tanya. This gave Tanya great comfort in her final days to know that people cared so much for her.



It has been a long journey since February 2013. During this time, spurred on by the love and support that was shown to us, Tony fought hard. It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, a great father and loyal friend. In the midst of our despair and heartache, there was always hope and we found the strength to remain positive and to make every day matter. We would like to express our gratitude and thanks to everyone who have helped us along the way.  Tony was loved by many and his absence will be forever felt.  A man of great courage, passion and honour, he will be deeply missed but forever in our thoughts.

Genevieve, Nicholas & Thomas



Sadly Tai passed away on August 2, 2015 after battling his cancer for over 8 months. Throughout his fight he was immensely encouraged not only by the generosity of people's donations, but by the outpouring of encouragement and love from everyone on the crowd funding site. He would look at it every day and feel another boost of strength to keep fighting. Thank you so much for all of your support. It was so greatly appreciated. More than you will ever know. 
Catherine and Kesiah Vu



Duc sadly lost his battle with cancer in August 2015 at the age of 35. Diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer less than a year before his passing, Duc fought courageously to beat the odds. Unfortunately, the cancer had progressed rapidly and he was unable to continue the fight. Duc was a great son, brother and friend and will be immensely missed by everyone that knew him. His generous spirit, enthusiasm for life and determination will live on in our hearts and minds. Gone too soon, but never forgotten.



Sadly, Tara Tobin passed away May 21st, 2015. Tara fought courageously to beat the odds and it is with heavy hearts that we must now say goodbye. Throughout Tara’s cancer battle,  we have been generously supported, showered with so much love and hope. On behalf of Tara and my two boys, I’d like to sincerely thank everyone who helped us see light through a time of despair and heartache.
In honour of Tara, my beloved wife, the mother of my gorgeous boys, I wish to donate all funds raised for Tara’s campaign to help patients in the Sick or Treat program, particularly Jessica whose story strongly resonates with me. Through this small gesture, Tara’s legacy will continue to live on and there will be just that little more hope, empathy and love in the world.

Nick Collings sadly passed away on Saturday 24 January 2015. Diagnosed with Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma in March 2013, it has and will always be, impossibly hard to comprehend. Yet through this hardship there were glimmers of hope and a flourishing of love and support. 
On behalf of Nick, we’d like to thank everyone who helped, donated and supported us. His strength and determination was unwavering and with your help, he fought hard to try and beat the odds. In his death and in his memory, we find great comfort in paying it forward. Paying back the generosity that friends and family have gifted us during the biggest battle of our lives. 

In honour of Nick, my beloved partner, we wish to donate all funds raised for Nick’s campaign to help patients in the Sick or Treat program, particularly Claudio Mongelli, who is fighting the same cancer as Nick. We wish him well.

This is a fitting tribute for Nick, a man of great spirit, a man dearly loved and a man who will forever be in our thoughts.
