on Saturday 30th March to celebrate and honour
his life. Georges wife, Maria Varkanis engaged the audience with an emotional
speech outlining Georges journey living with a rare and less common Cancer. As
a carer to the very end, her story was powerful and moving.
RCA’s General Manager, Mike Parker, also had the pleasure of
speaking at the event. It gave the guests an insight into current projects Rare
Cancers Australia are working on and how proceeds donated to Rare Cancers Australia
will go towards improving the lives of Australians diagnosed with a rare and
less common cancer
overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness shown by guests on the night.
This gala event
and evening united all guests and was the result of the tragic loss of a very
special person. As Maria said in her speech, “Cancer doesn’t discriminate”.
