Rare Cancers Kosciuszko Challenge 2014

"Telling our story walking!"

When & Where

The Second Annual Rare Cancers Kosciuszko Challenge will set off from Thredbo towards the summit of Mt Kosciuszko at 11 AM on Saturday, 1 March, 2014.

Walkers will have the choice of walking the full distance from Thredbo to the Summit (13.5 kms) or, for those less enthusiastic, starting at Eagles Nest at the top of chairlift and strolling to the summit (6.5 kms).

The aim is to return to Eagles Nest by 4 PM to take the chairlift back to Thredbo.

Why Thredbo?

Thredbo in late summer is a beautiful town located in the Alps and filled with lots of activities for adults and children. Fishing, Horse riding, Tobogganing, Swimming, Golf, Tennis and Squash to name just a few. It is a fantastic place for children to enjoy whilst you relax and have fun after your walk.

Why take the Challenge?

Rare Cancers is committed to helping fund cancer research and cancer treatment. Proceeds from this walk will be shared between our PARC Research Project and our Cancer Treatment Program.

Those of you who accept the bigger challenge are committing to climbing 1,000 meters over the 13.5 kilometer trek to arrive at the highest point in Australia. That is an achievement your friends and family will want to support and sponsor and something you can be very proud of.

For those who choose to the shorter route the 6.5 km walk climbing 450 meters to the summit is an equally fantastic achievement .

The Challenge allows you to match your fitness to the route you choose!

Après Challenge

Once you are resting happily back in Thredbo we hope you will join us for a relaxed dinner on Saturday night and stay around for a BBQ and great music on Sunday. Booking details for the Saturday night dinner will be available in the New Year.

Why come?

Because fundraising for rare cancer is a great cause,  walking to the top of Australia is a great experience and as all those who came last year will attest….it’s a great weekend!

Whilst everyone is free to choose their own accommodation and price point we thought it would be more fun if we were able to congregate in and around the same buildings. The following options are available in the Village and hopefully we can all gather there or close by.
